A woman has died following a pedestrian collision in the parking lot of CF Shops at Don Mills in Toronto on Tuesday morning, according to police.
Toronto Police Service officers said they were called to the scene shortly after 10:40 a.m. near Don Mills Road and Lawrence Avenue East after reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred within the busy shopping centre parking area, which is frequently used by shoppers, restaurant customers, and workers.
When emergency crews arrived, they located an adult female suffering from serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle operating in the parking lot. Despite emergency response efforts at the scene, authorities confirmed the woman was pronounced dead on site.
Toronto paramedics stated that no patients were transported to hospital, confirming the severity of the incident. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Police said the driver involved remained at the scene following the collision and is cooperating with investigators. At this time, no charges have been announced, and officials have not confirmed what factors may have contributed to the incident.
Collision investigators were deployed to examine the area, gather evidence, and speak with witnesses. While portions of the parking lot were temporarily restricted during the investigation, surrounding roadways were not closed, and traffic in the wider area was not significantly impacted.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, including speed, visibility, and other potential contributing factors. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
The incident has prompted renewed attention to pedestrian safety in high-traffic commercial parking areas, where both vehicles and foot traffic frequently intersect.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has relevant dashcam or surveillance footage from the area at the time of the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
